WHAT IS MOBILE THERAPY?

I offer "mobile therapy" which means that I travel to the patient's residence. The care provided consists of the same type of treatment one might receive in an outpatient clinic, but in the comfort of the patient's home. This should not be confused with Home Health, which is for patients that are home bound.

 

The advantage of mobile therapy is that the patient does not have to travel to a clinic, there is less exposure to communicable illnesses, and the patient receives the  completely undivided attention of the therapist. I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and will take all necessary precautions to reduce the risk of any infection.

I am based in Bowie, MD, and travel to surrounding areas of Maryland.

LYMPHEDEMA TREATMENT

Lymphedema is a chronic condition characterized by swelling due to a dysfuction of the lymphatic system. This system is responsible for infection control and tissue-fluid balance regulation, and can be damaged due to many different factors.

 

Lymphedema must be managed carefully with manual lymphatic drainage, compression, exercise, dilligent attention to skin care, and diet.

Other related conditions such as lipidema as well as impairments related to cancer treatment will be evaluated and managed accordingly.

CHRONIC AND COMPLEX CONDITIONS

Every individual has his or her own unique health history. Many of the patients that I have worked with have multiple, often complex simultaneous conditions that need to be managed. I always look at the big picture, prioritize the patient's needs and create a realistic plan with the patient's goals in mind.

  • Manual lymphatic drainage (a special type of lymphedema massage that helps reduce swelling)

  • Multi- layer bandaging

  • Other manual therapy including joint or scar mobilization, range of motion

  • Exercise instruction 

  • Patient education on understanding and management of the condition, infection prevention, nutrition, breathing, posture, activity modification, pain management, etc.

  • Home exercise program
